New Years Pictures ;)

My great friend Kalli rescued us on New Years.... we brought the camera, but it didn't have a memory card in it!! Thank goodness Kalli had hers! And thank goodness she was so great to get us some pictures :)

Our group with a hilarious magician.... his magic show was one of our favorite parts!

We almost froze.... but we were having so much fun that it didn't matter! We'll never question what to do on New Years again, that's for sure!

Back to the single's ward!

Well, Nick got a new calling today at church! We'll be attending the 22nd ward because Nick is now the 2nd counselor in the Bishopric. It might be a little weird going back to the single's ward.... but overall I think we'll have lots of fun!

I'm so grateful for Nick and his good example! He is so good to me and he teaches me so much :) Here's to a new learning experience I'm sure we'll learn so much from!

Cameron and Kelsey's Wedding

Cameron and Kelsey got married last Friday - we traveled to Salt Lake and got to go to their sealing and reception. We just love these two lovebirds! It's so much fun to have married friends :) They are an absolute blast and we love hanging out with them! At their reception, they had hot cocoa and cute decorated donuts - so fun!

Aren't they just adorable?!

Here we all are at their reception!

Waiting for them after their sealing :)

We are so glad we were able to celebrate Cameron and Kelsey's special day with them! We can't wait to hang out with you when you get home!

Life is good :)

This may have already been one of the most expensive months of our lives. Yes, we spent more than we could have on Christmas presents... and our cars (yes, both!) may be having major high priced issues. Our friend Dani said when she and Jared got married her dad joked that everyone gave them money to delay life kicking them in the face. Well, I was starting to feel like life is trying to kick us in the face. Really. It seems like the harder we try to save money, the more we need to spend. When it all comes at once it can be a little bit overwhelming.... I was starting to get upset but then it hit me - life really is so good! I have the most wonderful husband! Nick is such a good listener, he is so sweet and loving, and he's fun! My job is the best job I could imagine.... I know this job was waiting for me while I hunted for jobs for ELEVEN months - and we are so blessed that I am able to work for SUU! Our families are simply amazing! We get to spend time with them often and we are grateful to live close enough that we can visit each other every couple months. We have some of the greatest friends out there! Nick and I seem to be more social now then when we were single! It's so nice to have friends that are such good examples and so much fun! I hope to always remember that when things get hard, it's okay. We have each other and we have a [small] savings account for a reason. Life is good!

2011 Already?!

I can’t believe it’s already 2011!!! Ever since I started my job it feels like time just flies by! We decided to ring in 2011 with some friends at “First Night” in St. George. It was a complete blast - we all agreed it would be worthwhile to go to again! Although St. George was FREEZING (weird right?), there was so much going on –magic shows, hypnotists, fireworks, dancing, ZUMBA(!!), yummy hot cocoa, free pictures… we loved it! I will get pictures and post them asap!

Nick and I have talked about setting some 2011 resolutions – we don’t want to set too many, but we’ve come up with a few:

1. We are going to finish the Book or Mormon this year – this doesn’t sound hard, but I always feel like I have to make a point to “finish”… I have a habit of starting over mid way because I feel like I’ve strung my reading out…

2. Fitness goals are always a must! It’s hard to make time to exercise when life gets busy – we are bound and determined though! The goal is to get up and to the gym 5 times a week (hopefully BEFORE work so we can enjoy our short evenings not at the gym!). Thanks to the Hussey Family Fitness Challenge we’ve done really good so far!

3. We also want to save some $$ for a new car…. It seems like there is always some sort of unexpected expense that can get in the way of saving as much as we want to! This year the goal is to make a “car payment” to a special savings account each month that will someday help us buy a new vehicle (we’re leaning toward a Ford Escape Hybrid…. but since it will take a few years to get the cash needed, we’ll see!).

We have other goals we’re continually working on in addition to these (mine is to run the Hurricane ½ marathon this April) – It feels so good to have a plan!

Our friends Cameron and Kelsey are getting married this weekend…. We cannot wait for this wedding! Nick dreamed about it a few months ago (before they were even engaged) and he said it’s the best wedding we’ve ever been to (aside from our own I’m guessing ;))! It will be a nice LONG weekend to take Friday off for their wedding AND celebrate MLK day Monday by not working as well!

Merry Christmas!

We have had a busy couple of weeks!
A week before Christmas we headed up to Salt Lake to spend the weekend with our families.
We went to see the lights at Temple Square Friday night.
All the Archuletta fans were there so it was pretty crowded!

Saturday we went to the annual Hussey Family Christmas Party (no pictures...)
and made gingerbread houses with Nick's family.

The tradition started last year - in pairs, we are supposed to make a gingerbread house using all the pieces provided for us (we made the gingerbread pieces over Thanksgiving).
That's pretty much the only rule.... we toyed with making other rules, but I think that's the only "official" one.

We also went to the Shober (Meik) family party in Midway.

Monday my coworker Brandi and I showed up at work looking like we coordinated our outfits!
It was awkward - so we decided to take this awkward picture!

Wednesday we headed out to Roosevelt - my parents thought we were coming on Thursday, but we decided to surprise them and come a day early!
It was fun to show up on the doorstep and ring the doorbell!

Thursday we headed to the Homestead and went snowmobiling Friday. It was a blast!

Christmas morning Nick and I woke up to my family singing "Dominic the Christmas Donkey" a season favorite from the syrius radio Christmas station. Hilarious!

Before we headed back to Cedar City, we took a family photo!

We had a great Christmas and enjoyed spending time with family!
Can't wait for two more days off this week for new years -

Christmas Break!

School is out for Chrismas! Nick gets a WHOLE MONTH off school! How awesome is that?! We're semi-glued to Cedar because I don't get as long of a break as Nick... but that's okay :) We're still finding fun things to do!

Last weekend we went to an Alumni tailgate party before a men's basketball game. Lucky us, Santa made it too! We got a picture with him and with some of our friends too -

Some of our friends from our ward, Trevor and Cassie, are so good at making cakes! They make wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and cool novelty party cakes too! We've been talkng about making a cake with them for a few weeks, and we decided to get together yesterday to make an ornament cake! The actual cake was baked in a pyrex bowl - we put fondant on it (which we won't eat.... we just wanted to see how it worked!) and we just experimentd with a few things - like edible glitter and a cool fondant cutter.

Not bad for a first round cake!

We tried to spice up our Christmas gifts by putting small ornaments on our gifts. Probably my favorite dollar store find this season!

Tonight we had an ugly sweater party with some friends. We also did a "wedding gift you can't return and don't want" gift exchange game. It was fun! Here are our couple shots...
