Halloween!

We were able to do lots of fun things this year for Halloween. Last weekend, Nick's parents were in St. George for BYU Softball games so Nick and I went down to hang out for the weekend. While there, we went to a Haunted Corn Maze. It was set up really cute - they had a graveyard, crazy bus (that you actually had to get on and walk through!), and lots of other cute "scary" things. Lots of little kids were the ones scaring us, so it was really cute when an 8 year old jumped out and said "BOO!".

Last week Nick bought us pumpkins and planned a date for us to carve pumpkins. I don't think eiher of us had carved a pumpkin in years, so it was fun! Nick's is the scary ghost, and my pumpkin was the skeleten and cat.

Friday we had our friends over for a little Halloween party! Everyone dressed up and we all enjoyed ourselves. We ate fun Halloween food, played Halloween Bingo, and just plain hung out!

Playing BINGO!

Here are our cute little Bingo prizes... I got the idea here: http://thedahlingdatingdivas.blogspot.com/2010/10/some-mummy-loves-you.html

Here's a group shot... all of us crammed into our small living room :)

We mutually decided that the Blake's (Kirk, Kelli, and cute Kyden) won the best costume award!

The Potters!

Scott and Kalli Brueck dressed up as "work-out partners"... Scott stuffed his clothes with pillows and looked pretty legit. He could even hold the bowl of candy corn on his "extra shelf" with no hands!

Jared and Dani Wenn dressed up as a "Doctor... and Gypsy". It was funny to watch Dani take off her jewelry before we watched a movie. It was everywhere ;)

Nick did lots of research on what we should dress up as... we decided on "Ipod Ear Buds" and made our costumes ourselves!

Saturday night we went to the Tuacahn to see Thriller. Nick and I went 5 years ago as friends, last year as we were starting to date, and this year married! (I also went the two years that Nick was gone on his mission - once with my family and once with roommates) We wore our Ipod Ear Bud costumes to the show (don't worry... we didn't wear our heads during it!). We were lucky enough to be picked by a Zombie for the costume contest... and we actually were in the top 4 that won a prize! We have free tickets to go to the Tuacahn next year! We were super excited :) Here are a few pictures from the Tuacahn. We saw so many of our friends there - it has become our little tradition to go on Halloween night each year!

One last thing... Nick works with Trevor McGlochlin and his wife Monica was an ambassador with us our Freshman year of college. We love hanging out with the McGlochlin's! The other day when the boys were at work, Nick told Trevor they should come with us to the Tuacahn. Trevor called and got seats as close to us as they could and was planning to surprise Monica. I almost spilled the surprise (I need to be told when things are a secret), but she still didn't know where we were going. They met us before we headed to the Tuacahn and I snapped this picture - they were so creepy! But so funny...

I also snapped this one of them at the Tuacahn! Now tell me that isn't creepy!

Sheep Parade

Cedar City has some really fun town events! We have decided that we need to try to attend lots of them - so yesterday we went to a unique parade. It started out with old cars and tractors going down main street and ended with a bunch of sheep! Apparently the sheep spend the summer on the mountain and relocate for winter. Why not make their travel an event for everyone to come watch!

Check out those sheep!!!

I also thought this was quite cute :)

The last couple weekends...

Eleven days ago Cameron and Kelsey got engaged! We got to attend an engagement party (where Nick made the dessert!) that was such a blast! We cheered for the cute couple, listened to their engagement story, and played a game called "pop the question". So so fun! Nick has been dreaming about their wedding for weeks - he says it's the second best wedding he's ever been to.

The soon to be Jack's!

Jared, Dani, Nick and I trying to take an awkward picture at the party...

Last week was Homecoming week - luckily it was also Mitch's and Tyler's fall break, so my family came to visit for the weekend. They came on Thursday and took us out to eat at Lupita's where we heard the best birthday song ever!!! Friday Mitch and my mom went to a Senior Expo at SUU and got a glimpse at campus while the boys went to play golf in St. George. Mitch spent Friday night with Nick and I - he napped while we went to a Presidential Ambassador Reunion - then we all ate cheesecake, watched some Homecoming fireworks, and went to see "The Social Network". We thought about taking Mitch to True T-Bird Night, but because he was running a 5K the next morning we decided to bypass it.

Nick and I at the PA Reunion

Mitch did so awesome at the 5K!!! He ran cross country for a few years in high school and has stayed in super good shape for soccer. He booked it!

Here's a picture of a few of us with our friends before the race (Mitch even saw a kid from UREA)

Here he is before...

And after!

After the race, we ate french toast, chatted, and rested. We went to watch the Homecoming parade (which was a first for all of us) and we got a lot of free stuff because we were holding our friend's baby. Mitch even got a t-shirt in his size and everything! It was fun!

Us at the parade-

After the parade, we went to St. George to meet up with my parents and Ty. We all went to eat at Texas Roadhouse and had lots of fun! We went to the Tuacahn Saturday night and I somehow didn't take any pictures!!! Sunday the fam came to our ward - then traveled home in the slightly rainy weather. We had such a fun weekend! I'm so glad we were able to spend some time with family :) so fun!

Back to another week of school and work!

Nick and I are going to start working on our Halloween costumes this week... anticipate something cool...

This Week

Nick and I have been busy busy busy! We made a goal to have our "thank you" cards from our wedding finished by our two month anniversary... AND WE DID IT!!! We worked really hard on them... Here's a stack of them we did in 1 day! I kid you not... we worked really really hard!

Here's the stack!

Here's what our cute thank you postcards look like!

I almost burned the apartment complex down yesterday trying to make a yummy dessert for some of our friends who are getting engaged tonight. No more meringue's here! Anyway, I shed some tears... (it's funny now)... and today when I came home from work my sweet husband had these waiting for me!!!

He is so stinkin' cute! I feel so lucky to be married to Nick - I don't know how I got so lucky but he is seriously so sweet to me and he always helps me fix problems without making them worse (like last night... after the disaster happened he put on the oven mits, carried the smoking dessert outside and disposed of it... then told me he likes the smell of smoke so he's so glad I could burn the dessert! What a sweetheart!) Anyway, I love Nick so much! He really is the best thing that ever happened to me!

Nick's been playing on a co-ed softball league this fall and they found out last night they are the league champs!!! Here's a pic of the happy team after a huge win (21-8)

That's all for now... I'll have more coming soon though 'cause it's the weekend! We have a lot of fun planned :)

Authentic Chinese

Nick and I are both taking Chinese classes this semester. Hou Qikun is spending a year at SUU teaching beginning and advanced Chinese classes. He invited Nick's class (the advanced class) over to eat some "Hot Pot" last week. Wife's were invited, so I got to go too! They used an electric skillet and heated up a watery liquid in it - then they basically just threw in whatever they wanted! Tofu, mushrooms, cabbage, spam, chicken etc and you just use your chop sticks to pick out whatever you want to eat. It was super spicey, but actually quite yummy.

We all used chop sticks... that was the only hard part!

Lately...

It's a lot harder to stay up on blogging than I thought!!!

The last couple weeks we've had a lot of fun - Nick and I try to go on dates a couple times a month. They are pretty low key dates... but we like to go out together to have some "planned fun". We went out to eat at the Pizza Factory then goofed around and took some funny pictures a couple weeks ago. We tried to hold the moon, but it was a lot harder than we imagined. Plus we couldn't manage to get good lighting... we had fun though!

Nick is like ET!

Last Saturday we went to St. George with Dani and Jared. We went so we could go to the temple, but we didn't call in advance and the last session was at 11:20 (because of the Relief Society session of conference). We barely missed it... but we had fun checking out all the newly married couples, taking pictures, and watching the video in the visitor's center about families.

"We're Married!"

Last Saturday night we went to an SUU Bingo Night. The prizes were so-so (Jared won some ramen noodles) but we had a blast! Hopefully they have another one sometime. If not we may have to hold our own Bingo Night!!!

A few last updates:
Nick and Jared took cool pictures doing handstands on upper campus -

We found this cool cat mug at Ross and gave it to our friend Sam...

We went to Bountiful Baskets this morning! Look at this load of food we got for $15!!! Probably our favorite way to grocery shop!

"We met him!" will probably be one of the most common phrases Nick and I say this weekend. The week before we got married we ran into President Monson in Mr. Mac and had a nice handshake and a friendly conversation with him. We're excited to listen to Conference together and learn how we can be better!

That's about all for now! More to come in the next few days.
