Ever look through the grocery ads that come on Tuesday? I always wonder if items are really that cheap when they have the giant "price cut" or "buy 10 save $5" signs. Well, here's a website to help you find out what really is a deal and what isn't.
GrocerySmarts is simply amazing! You need your state code to login - if you don't know it, you can access it on the website. Utah's is g84rcm. After you login, select the store you'd like to see deals at. If an item is coded in red (4 or 5 starts) it's a great deal! If it's black with 3 stars, it's an okay deal. The best part is.... if there is a sale item with a coupon at the same time there is a link provided that takes you directly to it.
Seriously, who would have thought you could get 6 pounds of Tillamook cheese for $9.33?

Father's Day Weekend
Nick has been an orientation leader at SUU this summer. Because of this job, we got to go to the summer games for free by volunteering to carry some flags around the field. It would have been REALLY great if the wind didn't almost blow us away ;) That's Cedar City for you. They even had to cancel the "flag parachuter" during the National Anthem because he would have blown to St. George! The fireworks were AMAZING though (the whole thing was a finale!) and we even won free pizza coupons from a texting contest! SA-WEET!
We went to Salt Lake for the weekend to see our families and it was so fun! Friday night we went to Tron with Nick's parents (which was really good!), Saturday we worked hard in the Shober's yard and that night we spent a little while at my parent's condo downtown. Sunday we all had dinner together at the Shober's to celebrate Father's Day and it was way fun!
These are our cute little Father's Day gifts - they turned out WAY cute!

Summer Weather.... FINALLY!
Today was such a beautiful day! We couldn't pass up a scooter ride!
We decided to make a date out of it and we got our favorite meal:
We took our salad to a man made lake in Cedar that we had never been to. People fish, swim, and just plain hang out here. Tonight definitely won't be our last time going there this summer!
Weekend Projects....
Two weekends ago we joined some friends and checked out a few yard sales.
The friends we went with recently moved into a 6 bedroom house. They were looking for a few pieces of furniture to fill their new big place - a couch, table, chairs etc. Nick and I had our eyes out for a {new} desk, but we were mostly helping our friends....
We did the slow drive by to see if we wanted to get out of the car and look around at a storage shed yard sale. When a cute old lady waved us down we decided to at least take a look...
And that, my friends, is when we found this for $10!

We bought it with the intention of painting it a funky color. And that is what we did last weekend!
First we got rid of the top! We then patched some nail holes from where the top part sat and put a piece of wood in the gap above the top drawer.
After that we lightly sanded the whole desk.... with sand paper. UGH. If we ever choose to paint a piece of furniture again I think we may invest in a sander!

Next we followed Nicole's advice and scrubbed it down really good - we wiped it down with water first, then used a magic eraser to dry it out and scrub it clean!
Then we primed it...
And painted it!
And set it up in our {soon to be} office.
The last thing we need to do is find some knobs for the drawers....

Memorial Weekend
Nick and I had a great weekend!
We started by heading out to Roosevelt Friday for Mitch's high school graduation. He was one of the valedictorian's (there were 5!) so we got to hear him give a funny speech about what the 2011 Class learned in high school! It was so fun to see Mitch graduate - although it was bitter/sweet for him, I'm really excited he'll be in Cedar next year for college!

Nick and I with Grandma and Grandpa Hussey
Saturday morning we hung out with Kelsie and Cade, two of my favorite high school friends. We got to see their cute little boy Tacen, who we hadn't seen since our wedding! He was so cute! It was so nice to be able to catch up before they leave for Tennessee where Cade will start optometry school this Fall!
Kelsie, Cade and Tacen (the baby monitor.... he was napping!)

We then headed to Utah County.... where we bought this!!!

I've wanted one for years and Nick has dreamed of having one since his mission (everyone has one in Taiwan) so we splurged with a promise to be extra safe! Most of the time I'm sure we'll ride it around together anyway :) Now if only we can get it down here.... (we're waiting on the flaky delivery man).
Later that afternoon we went to see my Grandma's grave. We hunted for a pinwheel we could leave there for a long time - finally we found some a Harmons but they were itty bitty. Maybe next time Grandma!

Saturday night we headed to Ephraim to camp with Nick's parents. We did a lot of relaxing.... including sleeping in until noon! It snowed though, so we didn't feel like we were missing out on too much outside! We also read A LOT of the Hunger Games.... I finished the series and really liked them! Nick should finish tonight! Then we can talk about what we liked the most! Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the snowy camp trip.
We had so much fun seeing our families! Thanks for the fun everyone!

the BEST cookies of all time!
The side of me that shares these is not the nutritionist side. It is the "just don't eat the whole batch" side ;)

Hot Chocolate Cookies
Ingredients
2 sticks room temperature butter
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/4 cups flour
4 packages Hot Chocolate Mix (not sugar free)
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup each white, milk, and semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Cream together both sugars and the butter until light and fluffy. In another bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. Slowly add in the dry ingredients. Add the chocolate chips to the cookie dough. (I tried using my KitchenAid for this part and it was painful to watch. I just stir the chips in by hand because I don't want to work my KitchenAid too hard!) Chill the dough for an hour (or don't if you don't have time). Bake them in a preheated 350 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan.
These cookies do not disappoint!
A friend shared this recipe with me and I seriously can't get enough. She found the recipe here.
