Weekend Projects....

Two weekends ago we joined some friends and checked out a few yard sales.

The friends we went with recently moved into a 6 bedroom house. They were looking for a few pieces of furniture to fill their new big place - a couch, table, chairs etc. Nick and I had our eyes out for a {new} desk, but we were mostly helping our friends....

We did the slow drive by to see if we wanted to get out of the car and look around at a storage shed yard sale. When a cute old lady waved us down we decided to at least take a look...

And that, my friends, is when we found this for $10!

We bought it with the intention of painting it a funky color. And that is what we did last weekend!

First we got rid of the top! We then patched some nail holes from where the top part sat and put a piece of wood in the gap above the top drawer.

After that we lightly sanded the whole desk.... with sand paper. UGH. If we ever choose to paint a piece of furniture again I think we may invest in a sander!

Next we followed Nicole's advice and scrubbed it down really good - we wiped it down with water first, then used a magic eraser to dry it out and scrub it clean!

Then we primed it...And painted it!

And set it up in our {soon to be} office.

The last thing we need to do is find some knobs for the drawers....
