Christmas Break!

School is out for Chrismas! Nick gets a WHOLE MONTH off school! How awesome is that?! We're semi-glued to Cedar because I don't get as long of a break as Nick... but that's okay :) We're still finding fun things to do!

Last weekend we went to an Alumni tailgate party before a men's basketball game. Lucky us, Santa made it too! We got a picture with him and with some of our friends too -

Some of our friends from our ward, Trevor and Cassie, are so good at making cakes! They make wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and cool novelty party cakes too! We've been talkng about making a cake with them for a few weeks, and we decided to get together yesterday to make an ornament cake! The actual cake was baked in a pyrex bowl - we put fondant on it (which we won't eat.... we just wanted to see how it worked!) and we just experimentd with a few things - like edible glitter and a cool fondant cutter.

Not bad for a first round cake!

We tried to spice up our Christmas gifts by putting small ornaments on our gifts. Probably my favorite dollar store find this season!

Tonight we had an ugly sweater party with some friends. We also did a "wedding gift you can't return and don't want" gift exchange game. It was fun! Here are our couple shots...

This is DISGUSTING!

So... tonight we picked out a movie to go see with our friends. The movie theatre is doing a canned food drive, and if you bring a can of food you can get a free popcorn or free soda.... so obviously we were excited when one of our friends reminded us of this! A few months ago, I hit up a case lot sale at Smiths and bought a case of canned corn. I really am not a huge fan of canned food, so I was happy to exchange some for popcorn :) I ripped the plastic off the case of corn, and guess what I found... THIS!

I'm so grateful we weren't dependent on our food storage when I found this!!! I'm not sure I'll be able to eat canned corn from here on out... UGH!

Christmas Decor!

Nick and I have started decorating for Christmas! We went to Nick's parents for Thanksgiving and we did some black friday shopping with Bob... My favorite black friday find was our skinny little pre-lit tree that fits perfect in our apartment! We are finished with all of our Christmas shopping and our house has a few cute decorations.

Here's Nick with his most favorite decoration - if you push on the nose it plays Christmas songs...

Here's a little countdown I made for Nick...

My mom gave us an early Christmas gift - this cute nativity!

We picked out some fabric and made stockings this year. Our favorite part may be the santa beard top... :)

We put green lights in our window at our apartment. You have to look close to see them, but they're there! (if they'll stay up... we're not so sure right now!)

Here's our Christmas tree!

And here's us by it!

And last, but not least, Nick and I have been glued to the couch lately... Terrible, but our new favorite show, Criminal Minds, is on a couple nights a week for 4 hours! Since we haven't taken many pictures lately, I told Nick we needed to document what we're up to... even if it's just watching Criminal Minds!

Las Vegas!

Nick and I were lucky enough to go to Las Vegas this week because of some SUU open houses. We had two nights where high schooler's in the area could come and be admitted on the spot, receive a scholarship, and hear more about SUU! It was so fun!

We did a lot of really cool things while we had down time in Vegas. Nick has been talking about going to a Cirque Du Soleil show since our freshmen year of college... so we decided to go to Mystere! We got a really decent deal on our tickets and had some of the best seats in the house! WE LOVED IT!!!

We also spent some time at the outlet mall, and wandered the strip. It sure seemed like there were more creepy people out on a Wednesday night then your usual Saturday. We had a blast though!

Roosevelt

A couple weeks ago we headed out to Roosevelt for a couple days (we stopped in Mona on the way to see Mike and Brianne and went to see Nick's parent's while we were up too!). Nick was helping with the Union High college days, so we decided to head out and spend some time with our families. Nick was swamped finishing a paper up, so my mom and I had a whole afternoon to hang! It was fun! Since I started my job in April I haven't had much time to just hang and chat with my mom and I've missed that! Mitch was kind enough to be our energetic photographer so we could get a picture together!

I love you Mom!

Bountiful Baskets...

We went to Bountiful Baskets again today and got a unique variety of foods this time.

A danish acorn and brussel sprouts... unless I can find a good way to cook these, no thanks!

These are a maybe... some sort of orange tomato looking thing and "not normal" pears. We don't know what these are... we'll give them a try, but... we'll see.

We don't feel like we wasted any money though, 'cause look at everything we will have no problem eating!
