We can hardly believe it! Maylee is TWO!!!
The biggest change I have noticed in Maylee over the past few months is how much her communicating has exploded! She is constantly talking or singing and I really love that we can communicate more and more during the day.
- We "lost" her binkie almost two weeks ago. I was hesitant because she has been such a good napper (usually 3 hours) but the transition wasn't that bad. We keep her up a little later for naps and at night so she is more tired and she has been going down without a fuss. She still asks for it occasionally, but I'm glad we are over that obstacle! Naps have been a little more hit or miss lately, but she still sleeps about 10 hours at night.
- Maylee went to the dentist this week and was pretty cooperative. Hesitant and a little resistant, but it only lasts 5 minutes when you are two and she was pretty funny there!
- Yesterday I had an orthodontist apt and Maylee went to Grandma Linda's. On the way home she told me a story from when she was there. "Mom! Brookie pet kiki (kitty). Kiki SCRATCH Brookie. Brookie cry! Grama pick it up (picked her up)" That was a pretty accurate version from what I heard from Grandma too :) although she skipped over the part where the dog scared the cat.... :)
- Maylee often says "I like it", but you have to pay attention to how she says it because it could mean "I don't like it" as well.
- Maylee is finally going to nursery well! She had a rough start being excited about going, but now she enjoys it (although she usually will do a sympathy cry when we come to get her - I think it's because she doesn't want us to think she's having fun without us).
- This girl is pretty fearless.... She's a monkey that climbs all over EVERYTHING. I find her doing lots of unsafe things and she likes to remind me she is still being "careful".
- Maylee finally says "puppy" instead of pupm.... Although she occasionally refers to her stuff dog as pump-um - which is a new version, but still entertaining.
- When she is bored or wants to show off, Maylee pretends she is a puppy. She likes to pretend like she's eating like a puppy sometimes too, which is a good way to get some veggies in her....
- Maylee likes to tell people good job - but it's hard to know what she's saying unless you know, because it's more like "Job Mom!"
- Maylee and I have been doing a mom-tot swimming lesson and it's been really fun. She's been going for 12 weeks and will hopefully continue to go until she's three. Nick's going to start going with her in the evening as I'm getting more pregnant, so next week we'll start an evening class where we all go. She loves the swimming teacher now and gets so proud when she swims (glides) from the teacher to her mom. She's improving every week and loves to go!
- We've been practicing counting and ABC's. Maylee gets a little stuck sometimes on three and seven, but other than that can count to ten. She knows all of her colors and loves to point them out. "Dad! Look! Blue truck!" "Mom look! Green trees outside!" She's really good at puzzles and matching colors, and she loves building towers with blocks.
- Nick's been teaching Maylee a handful of Chinese words and she cracks us up saying them - when she's skipping around the living room she'll often start shouting "Ni-hao!"
- Her favorite tv show is still Daniel Tiger, and we've had to learn to limit it a lot. I think she could watch tv all day if I let her.
- Maylee loves to do her makeup with me while I'm getting ready. My job is making sure I wipe it off before we go anywhere.
- Maylee's favorite books consist of "Books Books Everywhere", "Nuffle Bunny", "Blue Hat Green Hat", and "The Foot Book".
We sure love Maylee and the fun she brings to our family!
